Beware of loan modification company's that ask you for money up front.  They charge thousands of dollars up front just to speak with your mortgage company in order to get your interest rate reduced.  Something that you can do on your own given enough information.  Spend the $8-$20 to buy a book on how you can do it yourself!!!  That is far less than what it would cost you to pay a loan mod company thousands to do it for you!!!
